On ‘In Her Eyes’, the second track to be unveiled from his forthcoming Yearn EP, Sheffield’s Stewart Green – aka Carnivals – continues to trade in the highly romanticised style of ambient balladry that’s seen him a perennial blog sweetheart for the best part of 18 months now. Sure, he’s not really pushing the boat out stylistically, but when you’ve got your craft nailed this masterfully, then who needs to?
Placing beats as crisp as a midwinter morning to hefty wafts of smoggy atmospherics and misshapen vocal enchantresses, this one’s a surefire winner for soundtracking those fresher, more solemn walks to work that the colder months hold in store. What’s more, with the Yearn EP set to drop just in time for Autumn’s arrival, you owe it to yourself – and to your ears in particular – to make this a reality. Sure, ‘In Her Eyes’ may be a track rooted in seeing things from another perspective – the title implies as much – but here the vision is very much Green’s own.

The Yearn EP is available from September 30.
